The work-in-progress creation Harp is a dance poetry performance about death and rebirth. It is about those who are alive and those who are dead. It is a poetic ritual. The performance is a silvery, pearly, transparent landscape. It consists of the bodies of the performers, a meandering, singing, sensual soundscape and dried up fluid consistencies. The myth of ancient Greek Harpies and Finnish mythological Louhi function as a point of departure. In both cases we speak of hybrids of woman and bird, who are seen as evil. Louhi is the queen of the land of the dead. Harpies stole food and people, to teach lessons. The word ‘harp’ refers to an etheric instrument, as well as an offence for a mean old lady in the Finnish language. Harp and harp rock on both sides of death. The piece feasts with sheer, glimmering beauty, beasts, witchcraft, cultural historic archives, and pop culture. It goes from tragedy to comedy and back.
